When God has chosen you, the enemy (His enemies) wants to broadcast the mistakes you made.
They will use your mistakes as an opportunity to judge you and condemn you as a sinner.
Their goal is to make you look bad in the eyes of the people.
They will even appear to be your friend, however they are your enemy and God’s enemy.
Therefore, they will judge you instead of cover or shield you.
Know this, it is not about the wrong you did, or the mistake you made, it is about their self-righteousness.
Remember the scripture Romans 10:3 that says, “For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God”.
Isaiah 64:6 says, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.”
Because they believe their righteousness will save them, they have made themselves enemies of God.
They believe by their works they are saved and not by the work of Jesus Christ.
They believe they are the standard by which everyone should live, and by those standard should everyone be judged by.
Luke 23
Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, asks Jesus, “Are you the King of the Jews?”.
Jesus responds, “You say that I am a king”.
Pilate sent Jesus to Herod, and when Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him.
Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion.
I have examined Him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.
Neither has Herod (the king), for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.
This wasn’t enough for the crowd. In their self-righteousness as they shouted, “Away with this man!”
“Crucify him! Crucify him!”
Eventually, Pilate decided to grant their (the peoples’) demand.
